Town Of Beecher

 

The board meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.  Roll call showed all board members present along with 11residents

Supervisor Groy made a motion to adopt the agenda as written and was seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried. 

Minutes of March 2026 were read.  Motion to accept minutes as read by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried. 

Treasurer’s report was read.  Motion to accept report as given by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried. 

Recycling/garbage report showed that in March 6.27 tons of garbage were collected and 3.17 tons of recyclables.  The garbage was lower due to the blizzard and one week not collected. 

Report on building permits and fire sign applications showed one fire sign and three building permits.  A 36x27 2 bed home on basement with a 26x32 attached garage on Browns Lane; a 40x60 detached garage on slab on Beecher Lake Road and a 14x36 outbuilding on gravel on Krueger Lane.  The fire sign was on Smitty Drive.

The fee schedule had a couple of changes due to increasing costs.  Motion to accept the increases by Supervisor Wagner which was seconded by Supervisor Groy.  Motion carried. 

Shelia Downing was present regarding her permit for a shipping container.  She has 27.5 acres and the permit states that the container must be on the back half of the parcel.  20 of her acres are in productive forest.  The board asked her to make a sketch, fill out the variance application and bring to the next board meeting.  The board will waive the fee due to circumstances. 

A motion by Supervisor Wagner and seconded by Supervisor Groy to adopt a transportation funding resolution to be sent to state representatives and the towns association carried. 

A motion to approve a new recycling ordinance as required by the state was made by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried. 

Discussion of 2026-2027 funding award for Marek Road.  Chairman Younglove put in a proposal to rework Marek Road at a cost of $500,000.  The town was awarded approximately $250,000 of the cost and we would need to come up with the other half.  Chairman Younglove will continue to get details on the award and bring that back to the board.  Motion by Supervisor Groy and seconded by Supervisor Wagner to continue looking into the details as we don’t want to pass up the opportunity. 

Highway/road report was that the crew has been sweeping/grading roadways.  Weight limits will come off town roads on Thursday, April 23rd

Correspondence was a fire department financial report, a memo on perpetuation of survey landmarks and a memo regarding tobacco license renewals.

Public comment was that the county referendum failed and Ken Hanson said that they are looking at a bond or loan.  There is also a new administrator for the county which was promoted from within the county.   

No items for future meetings.  Announcements were the dates for open book on May 22nd and Board of Review on June 12th

Motion by Supervisor Wagner to approve payment of bills in the amount of $35,995.86 which was seconded by Supervisor Groy.  Motion carried. 

Next meeting will be May 12th at 6:00 p.m.  Motion by Supervisor Groy to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Supervisor Wagner.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
